About Music Therapy

Music Therapy is an established health profession in which a Board-Certified music therapist utilizes music within a therapeutic relationship to achieve wellness goals in areas of needs such as:

  • physical

  • emotional

  • cognitive

  • social

  • spiritual

As a music therapist, I utilize different elements and therapeutic approaches in my sessions from my training as a social worker & a music therapist. Those elements include:

  • talking

  • providing psychoeducation (mental health education)

  • exploring feelings & thoughts through music

  • creating art or new songs

  • engaging in movement

  • practicing journaling

  • songwriting

  • mindfulness

You don’t need to be an artist, a musician, or have had musical experience to fully benefit from music therapy sessions. In fact, the majority of my clients do not consider themselves to be artistic, although many have a meaningful connection to the music they listen to.

What Happens During A Music Therapy Session?

What happens during a music therapy session?” or “What does a music therapy session look like?” are two of the most common questions I get asked when we talk about music therapy.

Why Music Therapy?

In therapy, Board Certified Music Therapists (MT-BC) utilize music as an outlet for emotional expression, as a tool to explore personal feelings and as a way to gain personal insight & resilience.

I’m not currently accepting music therapy clients; accepting new counseling clients in Florida only. Contact me here to inquire about music therapy and get on the waitlist.
